“MUKU-ten” is a name inspired by Japanese words and symbols. “MUKU” means solid wood, while “ten” means “above the heavens” and refers to the top of a wooden board.

The design is based on the kanji “舎” (sha), a symbol of good fortune in the home. The gable roof reflects the ridgeline of Mt. Fuji, and natural Japanese materials are used throughout the space. Every detail expresses the architect’s wish to create an auspicious and welcoming inn.
